I recently joined 12,000 local residents in registering my objections to the proposed developed at Bow Common Lane Gasworks.
The scale of the proposals will overshadow the environmentally important Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, Tower Hamlets’ first ever nature reserve, threatening its diverse array of wildlife.
While initial reduction in the height of a number of blocks has been welcomed by campaigners, concern remains that the reduction in sunlight and increase light pollution will reduce populations of bees, insects and bats.
Tackling the climate emergency is central to my work as a Member of Parliament – preserving this site designated as of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation is vital to raising the next generation of climate activists and environmental campaigners.
