Response to Government’s Statement on Lifting COVID-19 Restrictions

Yesterday, in Parliament, I spoke about why so many of us are simply appalled by the Government’s statement on lifting coronavirus restrictions.

Every death from COVID-19 is a death too many. Every person or family suffering hardship right now is a person or family too many. No one is expendable.

Protecting people in the first and utmost duty of any Government, and the primary function of our economy should be to serve the interests of our communities.

Please see below for the clip of my full speech which addresses a range of issues from the effect of COVID-19 on BAME communities to to trade union rights to opposing the re-opening of schools unless it is safe to do so.
