Whilst the growth in digital technology is welcome, the value of local libraries cannot be understated, including the value of physically accessing books. There are now real concerns in the pandemic about further cuts & reductions to library services against financial pressures locally and the ongoing impact of austerity.
I’m calling on the Government to protect local libraries against closure, reopen them when safe, and deliver a sustainable, long-term future for them:
